Social Impact

Basic numeracy, literacy and IT skills are essential in the modern world, The Melville Foundation is here to help ensure every child has these skills.

Education in our country is a social problem, because millions of poor children are affected by the deplorable and decaying conditions that the buildings where they attend are. Furthermore, a lot of the personnel assigned to teach academics are not qualified to do so. The children that live in a household where the conditions are bellow poverty level, do not received the attention of parents or incentives to leave happy fulfilling g lives . Logically they end up being what they see most of the time, a life filled with difficulties and hardship. These conditions exist in part, because of the disproportionate amount of resources that the wealthy receives leaving very little for the poor class.

To aggravate the problem many school buildings are in an alarming state. Bathroom with no toilet paper, no soap, no working toilets. Computers are old, making hard to reach technology. Textbooks are scarce. Labs without kits, or incomplete ones. We all want for each child to receive better education, better school buildings with the necessary material. The problem is that most schools are paid by local authorities that are underfunded by central government.

Although the scale of this particular social problem is enormous, The Melville Foundation supports children’s academic efforts through provision of beds, mattresses, duvets, pillows, electronics for learning, wifi at home, breakfast clubs, emergency grants, clothes and other adjacent support services.
